Call for submissions: Hallowe’en–the Queer High Holiday
There’a arguably no holiday bigger on the queer calendar than Hallowe’en, with its colour, its glamour and its pagan, subversive roots. No wonder Bible thumpers have always been down on it!
In October, we will be showcasing stories on the theme Hallowe’en–the Queer High Holiday. We are now seeking recollections (one to two paragraphs or longer), photographs, and video or audio recordings about your experience of this queerest of holidays.
The recommended submission deadline is September 30, 2009. However, we will be posting stories throughout the month, so if you submit after the deadline your story may still appear on our site.
As always, we continue to accept any stories related to queer history in BC at any time.
Some suggestions:
- Tell us about a Hallowe’en party or event you’ve attended
- What things/creatures/famous people have you dressed up as and why?
- Why is Hallowe’en so popular with the queer community?
To submit a story, create an account by going here and following the instructions.
